Pink Ribbon Sweater DIY

Hey hunnie bunnies! Since I've been trying for a more cute style I brought this cute sweater from the thrift store for a DIY! I think I'm gonna be doing more sewing and DIY stuff since I think it's easier to document the process.

I hope you enjoyed this simple little project! If you try it out, comment the link to tag me on Instagram @juusanyearoldmind

Recent makeup + updates

Hehe yep. Selfie dump. It's been a really good month for my eyebrows 😂 I've been feeling really good about work and keeping my life and sanity together and all of that. I'm getting back into YouTubeing a bit more regularly and sewing as well. My next post will be about the recent sweater DIY I did. If you have me on Facebook then you'll have seen it already. But yeah just a little update to say I'm not dead :)

Making a Salopette: Tutorial

Hey guys, so I have been looking into some more sewing projects I could do to advance my style since it is hard shopping for cutesy things at the moment. In the next week or two there is going to be a lolita swap meet again and I haven't been to one since the end of last summer so I'm really excited. This is the moment I realized that I don't wear lolita for anything but conventions and special occasions which is sad but I don't have the wardrobe for it. The dresses I do have are for the winter so I wanted to make something for the summer like A SALOPETTE! lol so I started to sketch out my idea on my sketchbook.

I started off with this sketch and tried to figure out the measurements and how I wanted it to look on me and then got to making the patterns on some gift wrap. Once that was all done I made sure to go around and mark the seam allowance and where I wanted to cut my fabric on the fold.

After I cut out all of my pieces I placed it on my mannaquin so I could see how it would fit and it was a little too big so I took 3inchs off the straps and the back panel.

I decided that I wouldn't use the waist band I had draw in the picture. I started sewing the top first under the arm holes and the sides of the skirt. I actually played with the straps a bit since it was going to be plain straps but I used old belt parts to make the straps adjustable. Then I cut out the patterns and started sewing.

I attached the top to the bottom and then it was basically done! I made some bias tape out of the fabric that was leftover and went around the top portion because I didn't want to hem it.

Originally I wanted more ruffles but I realized that might mean having to unstitch the top and skirt to make the ruffles look better and start higher + it couldn't have pockets! So I chose to leave it as is

And it's done! I hope you enjoyed watching me make this cute pinnafore / salopette <3
